The foundation of any business is sales.
Selling ourselves, our certificate, our knowledge and our product.
It is an open topic in American culture, present in thousands of books, workshops and events.
In Europe, the subject of sales can be a difficult one - often avoided because understanding it involves deep self-knowledge and a confrontation with one's ego.
Subject SALES sometimes rejected, downplayed, underestimated, feared - and yet it is essential.
So why do we so rarely work on it?
Perhaps this is because in our subconscious, the very word 'sales' evokes reactions such as:
-
I am afraid to sell
-
I don't like to do it
-
I feel uncomfortable when I sell something
-
I feel insecure when I sell
-
I feel that I cannot be myself when I am selling
-
I get tired when I have to sell something
I often hear from my mentees when we talk about their experiences in sales:
"I don't actually know how to reach my customers. I don't know where to look for them yet, but somehow it will be, I'll manage. Time will tell, everything will work out. The important thing is that my product, my offer is great. Sooner or later someone will recommend me, the customer will pass it on."
Many sales trainers give this advice:
"Be authentic."
But what does this actually mean?
Does everyone know what authenticity is? Does he or she know how to be an authentic salesperson?
Authentic can only be someone who has understood himself. He who has dared to know himself - by asking himself many deep, confronting questions. Authentic is the one who really is himself and has the courage to be that himself.
Sales trainers also teach:
"Sell added value", "Define the problem", "Find the solution", "Know your customer first and then tailor your product or service to them. And if you are selling a standard product - present it in such a way that it looks like a perfect fit."
So much good advice - but the question is: "How do I do this in practice?"
On 9 March at 19:00, as part of the activities of the BLISKO organisation in Switzerland, I will be giving a workshop on this topic.
I will show you proven tools for successful selling.
This is a workshop for those who want to get to know themselves better, so that selling becomes a pleasure rather than a chore.
